Reporting
on the
WICE 2004 Fall Event
"Over 75 people attended the recent NYS Women in
Communications and Energy (WICE) Fall Event, hosted in Con Edison’s Irving Place auditorium. Founded
14 years ago, one of WICE’s main objectives is to encourage dialogue between women at all levels to
promote self-development and professional advancement."
WICE Connection
We are pleased to present to you a special issue of our
(no longer nameless) WICE newsletter. As you will note from our masthead, the winning entry in our Name the
Newsletter Contest is WICE Connection.
After considering a host of entries, some ingenious (“Power
in Communication," with the “O” in Communication being a light bulb), some a smart play on
words (“Of WICE and Women”), the new name was selected by a vote of the Board of Directors. It
was actually suggested by Cecille Drier, of Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. Thanks to
her!
The name WICE Connection is particularly
appropriate for our organization. It describes both our purpose—to provide a connection among the women
who work in our industries—and the industries themselves, which provide connections necessary to our
way of life.
This special issue concentrates on our enormously successful
Fall Event.
Maria Pollard of Orange and Rockland Utilities, a veteran of a number of WICE events, reports
on the meeting and its very substantive panels, while Victoria
Galsterer, of the PSC, who was attending her first WICE conference, offers her unique perspective
on the conference.
Our next edition of WICE Connection will
be coming later in the winter, and will include information on our Spring Event. Look for the article by Anne
Dalton in this edition about the Spring Event.
We wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season! And
stay connected!
